The Dossier Building public space. For a new urban welfare capitalizes on several contributions already published in the previous issue ('ANANKE 89) and now intends to pursue the reflection on the new urban issue, as a further opportunity for studying and intertwinning some relevant thematic nodes of disciplinary innovation, connected to the governance of the contemporary city. Experiences related to urban regeneration and territorial rebalancing, central to the objectives and policies of the European Urban Agenda, are reported. In response to the new needs and requests arising from the profound transformations of cities, the PDTA Department proposed to launch an open debate, through a call for papers, which resulted in numerous contributions. 13 papers have been selected and are going to be presented in two blocks: the first six are presented in this issue (n.90), while the second block of seven papers will be presented on the next issue (n.91).
